What is Autism?
Autism Spectrum condition (ASC) is a spectrum of neurodevelopmental conditions that affect individuals from all walks of life, as well as their families, friends, and caregivers. It is a complex lifelong condition that affects people differently and to different degrees.
Individuals diagnosed with ASC experience development that is frequently uneven with areas of strength alongside areas of difficulty. Strengths are often found in memory skills and attention to detail. ASC is characterised by difficulties in the development of social relationships and communication skills and the presence of unusually strong narrow interests, and repetitive behaviour. People who experience autism may have low, average or high IQ.
